The license should be identified as HDF5 to distinguish it from such non-free licenses. While it appears very similar to the BSD-5-Clause license, it uses the phrase "asked, but not required" to remove all power from that clause. So I would just request that you change the name of the license in debian/copyright to identify it as the "HDF5" license, to reduce the chance of confusion in future. Thanks! Original Note ============= Since this package is already in Debian, I'll accept it, however the BSD-5-Clause license includes DFSG-incompatible clauses (so-called "advertising" clause) which should be discussed with upstream. At some point the DFSG team will start to re-review packages in main which are not properly compatible with the DFSG and file bugs to resolve the issue or move the package to non-free.
