diffpdf 1:1.0.6-1

Package Information

Descriptioncompare two PDF files textually or visually

disparPDF compares two PDF files, page by page, and shows their differences side by side. By default the comparison is of the words on each pair of pages, but comparing character by character (e.g., for logographic languages) and comparing the appearance of the pages (for example, if a diagram is changed or a paragraph reformatted) are also supported. Particular pages or page ranges can be compared, and each page of one file can be paired with a page further on in the other, for when pages have been inserted or removed. The differences can be saved as a PDF file.

Batch mode (disparPDF --batch, or disparPDFc) compares without a window or display, printing a result code, and can save the differences as PDF and a report as XML. Pages are compared in parallel.

disparPDF is a fork of ConfrontaPDF, itself a fork of DiffPDF.

Changelog◂
diffpdf (1:1.0.6-1) unstable; urgency=medium
 .
   * Swizzle to the disparPDF upstream fork (a Qt 6 port of ConfrontaPDF,
     itself a fork of DiffPDF), with its own version numbers, hence the
     epoch. Update Homepage, watch file (GitHub, disparPDF's v* tags),
     upstream metadata, copyright and README.source; add NEWS for users.
   * New disparpdf package, which Provides: diffpdf, with diffpdf links to
     the disparPDF command and manual page (hence Breaks and Replaces
     older diffpdf); diffpdf becomes an empty transitional package
     depending on it.
   * Quilt patches for ported-over materials and fixes and features, from
     the disparpdf-fixes-and-features branch offered upstream: the Poppler
     colour-profile race, batch mode needing no display, translations,
     word order, fingerprinting pages once, page offset, a ctest test
     suite, --version, comparing files not named *.pdf, sharing the
     rendering code between GUI and batch mode, deterministic
     highlighting, GNU-style --help, a help2man manual page, desktop file
     and icons (with the scalable icon moved there from debian/), bash and
     zsh completion, and disparPDFc as a link to disparPDF that
     --interactive turns back into it.
     - The test PDFs are kept in debian/test-data, as quilt patches cannot
       add binary files.
   * Build: drop dh-sequence-single-binary and extra-cmake-modules; add
     pkgconf and help2man; install zsh completion in vendor-completions;
     install help.html (with doc-base).
   * Drop the lintian overrides, which were for DiffPDF's translations.
   * gbp.conf: unquote upstream-tag, which gbp took literally.
