golang-github-lufia-plan9stats 0.0~git20260802.341c2f0-1

Package Information

Descriptionretrieve statistics of a Plan 9 system (library)

This Go module retrieves system statistics (CPU, memory, storage, network interfaces and other kernel counters) from a Plan 9 operating system by reading the files exposed under its /dev and /proc hierarchies.

It is part of the Go module dependency graph of gopsutil and, through it, of software packaged for Debian; the Plan 9 code itself is not built on other platforms.

DFSG Assistant LLM REVIEW 0 blocker, 0 important, 0 minor

This is an LLM based review using a Debian Inference based workflow. It was not written by a member of the DFSG team and has not been checked by one. It is not a decision on the package: it may be wrong, and it may have missed things.

DFSG NEW review for golang-github-lufia-plan9stats version 0.0~git20260802.341c2f0-1

Summary

  • Licensing is DFSG-compliant and debian/copyright is accurate: Yes
  • Packaging is of good quality: Yes
  • Issues: 0 blocker, 0 important, 0 minor
  • debian/watch: version 5
  • debian/copyright: machine-readable
  • Scan before the review: nothing found

Licensing

Upstream is BSD-3-Clause (LICENSE: Copyright (c) 2019, KADOTA, Kyohei), a DFSG-free licence, and no file carries a different or additional notice. debian/copyright is DEP-5, names that holder for Files: * and the uploader for debian/*, reproduces the BSD-3-Clause text verbatim (needed, since it is not in /usr/share/common-licenses), and its * pattern covers every upstream file, including .github/ and testdata/. The only third-party code is github.com/google/go-cmp, used from the *_test.go files and already packaged for Debian.

Packaging

Standard Go team packaging: dh-sequence-golang with dh $@ --buildsystem=golang, XS-Go-Import-Path matching the module path, Build-Depends on golang-any and the go-cmp test dependency, Multi-Arch: foreign on the arch:all -dev package, autopkgtest-pkg-go, DEP-14 gbp.conf and DEP-5 copyright. Dependencies, Standards-Version 4.7.4 (Policy here is 4.7.4.1), changelog and Vcs fields are correct; dpkg-build-api (= 1), which makes Rules-Requires-Root: no the default, is declared. No patches or maintainer scripts are needed, and none exist.

Issues

None.

Verified ◂
  • Read all of debian/: control, rules, changelog, copyright, gbp.conf, salsa-ci.yml, source/format, upstream/metadata; there is no debian/patches, install/links/docs/dirs file, tests/control or maintainer script, and none is needed for this single arch:all library package.
  • Read every Go file (cpu.go, disk.go, host.go, int.go, opts.go, stats.go, doc.go) and every *_test.go; the only external import is github.com/google/go-cmp/cmp in the four *_test.go files, matching go.mod/go.sum.
  • LICENSE is BSD-3-Clause with Copyright (c) 2019, KADOTA, Kyohei; debian/copyright's Files: * stanza and its stand-alone License: BSD-3-clause paragraph reproduce it word for word, and Files: debian/* credits Juan Manuel Méndez Rey.
  • A case-insensitive grep of the whole tree for Copyright, (C), ©, SPDX-License-Identifier, Licensed under, Permission is hereby granted, GNU General Public, GNU Lesser, Apache License, Mozilla Public, public domain, All rights reserved, Lucent, Bell Labs and 9fans found notices only in LICENSE and debian/copyright; no file has a separate or conflicting licence and there is no non-free wording.
  • testdata/ (dev/{archctl,cputime,cputype,osversion,sdctl,swap,sysname,sysstat,time,sdC0/ctl,sdD0/ctl}, net/{ether0/{addr,ifstats,stats,0/{ifstats,stats}},ipifc/...,tcp/...,udp/...}, proc/{1,72,331,54384,54412}/status, proc/trace) are upstream test fixtures containing Plan 9 /dev, /net and /proc file contents (e.g. testdata/dev/archctl, testdata/net/ether0/addr, testdata/dev/sdC0/ctl quoted in the report only through these paths); they are data for the tests, not copied third-party code.
  • The .orig tarball contains exactly the upstream tree (18 files, .github/ and testdata/) and the .debian tarball only debian/; nothing outside debian/ has been added or changed relative to the tarballs, so no Files-Excluded is needed and the packaging is a pristine snapshot.
  • apt-cache: golang-github-google-go-cmp-dev is 0.7.0 (satisfies go.mod require github.com/google/go-cmp v0.7.0); golang-any is 1.27 (go.mod asks for go 1.21 / toolchain 1.24); dh-sequence-golang is provided by dh-golang 1.67; dpkg-build-api (= 1) is provided by dpkg-dev 1.23.11. All Build-Depends names exist.
  • /usr/share/perl5/Debian/Debhelper/Buildsystem/golang.pm: configure() copies .go files, go.mod/go.sum and everything below testdata/ into the build directory, ignores debian and .pc while copying (so --builddirectory=debian/_build in debian/rules is not recursed into), and test() runs go test -v on all targets -- so the build-time tests do link go-cmp, which is correctly in Build-Depends, and the relative testdata paths in the tests resolve in the build directory.
  • dpkg-build-api(7) v1 (dpkg 1.23.11 on this system): default Rules-Requires-Root is no, so omitting that field is not a fault; dpkg-buildpackage no longer needs the missing-target fallbacks, and dh $@ provides clean/build/build-arch/build-indep/binary-arch/binary-indep.
  • Standards-Version 4.7.4 against Policy 4.7.4.1 given by the policy tool: same first two components, current enough. Section golang and the arch:all, Multi-Arch: foreign binary (as golang-github-google-go-cmp-dev itself has) are consistent with the Go team's practice.
  • Testsuite: autopkgtest-pkg-go needs no debian/tests/control: autodep8 0.31 lists Go packages as a supported package type; the installed -dev package carries testdata and go-cmp in Depends, so the generated test can run the upstream tests.
  • changelog: initial release, unstable, medium urgency, closes #1148684, dated Tue, 22 Sep 2026 (a Tuesday); version 0.0~git20260802.341c2f0-1 matches the .dsc and the tarball names.
  • The prescan's holder check found no missing holder: the only copyright notice in the tree is LICENSE's KADOTA, Kyohei, which Files: * names, and the Debian packaging holder is named in Files: debian/*. No built, minified or binary file was listed by the scan, and none is present.
  • uscan found upstream releases with debian/watch; a newer upstream version is available (upstream 0.0~git20261101.be84dd9, packaged 0.0~git20260802.341c2f0), which is not a fault of the package.
Not confirmed ◂
  • No build or test run was attempted, as the review rules require; the debhelper/dh-golang behaviour above was read from the installed debhelper and dh-golang files rather than observed in a build.
  • The unpacked tree cannot be compared with upstream git at commit 341c2f0 (no network access); the snapshot date and commit in the version are taken as shipped in the .dsc and tarballs.
Proposed changes ◂

None.
