golang-github-power-devops-perfstat 0.0~git20260916.22a1a46-1

Package Information

Descriptioninterface to the AIX libperfstat API (library)

This Go module wraps the AIX libperfstat C library to expose performance and configuration statistics (CPU, memory, disk, network and partition metrics) of an AIX system.

It is AIX-only (its implementation uses cgo against libperfstat) and is not compiled on other platforms; it is packaged because it is part of the Go module dependency graph of gopsutil and, through it, of software packaged for Debian.

DFSG Assistant LLM REVIEW 0 blocker, 0 important, 0 minor

This is an LLM based review using a Debian Inference based workflow. It was not written by a member of the DFSG team and has not been checked by one. It is not a decision on the package: it may be wrong, and it may have missed things.

DFSG NEW review for golang-github-power-devops-perfstat version 0.0~git20260916.22a1a46-1

Summary

  • Licensing is DFSG-compliant and debian/copyright is accurate: Yes
  • Packaging is of good quality: Yes
  • Issues: 0 blocker, 0 important, 0 minor
  • debian/watch: version 5
  • debian/copyright: machine-readable
  • Scan before the review: nothing found

Licensing

debian/copyright is DEP-5 and covers the whole tree: Files: * names the upstream holder and Expat, debian/* the packaging, and the standalone License: Expat paragraph reproduces upstream's LICENSE word for word. The only other holder notice in the tree, doc.go's Power-Devops.com, names the same entity as the Power DevOps of LICENSE and of the Files: * stanza, so no separate stanza is needed. There are no non-free terms, no unlicensed files, no vendored third-party code and no built or generated files without their source.

Packaging

The packaging is coherent and current: Build-Depends match what the golang buildsystem actually uses (dh-sequence-golang, golang-any, golang-golang-x-sys-dev, which systemcfg.go imports), the binary package is correctly Architecture: all with Multi-Arch: foreign like the rest of the Go source packages, the single quilt patch has a DEP-3 header and a real purpose (AIX-only C helpers without a build constraint), and Standards-Version 4.7.4 and dpkg-build-api 1 are current. The empty override_dh_auto_build/override_dh_auto_test are justified: the library compiles off AIX through doc.go's !aix stubs, but go install ./... also builds examples/sysconfig.go, which uses the AIX-only SC_* constants of sysconf.go and unix.Getsystemcfg. dh_auto_configure still populates the build tree, so dh_auto_install ships the complete source.

Issues

None.

Verified ◂
  • Read in full: debian/copyright, control, rules, changelog, gbp.conf, salsa-ci.yml, source/format, upstream/metadata, patches/series and the patch itself.
  • Whole upstream tree inventoried (27 top-level files plus 10 example programs): Go sources, c_helpers.c/.h, LICENSE, go.mod, go.sum; no binaries, built, minified or generated files, no vendor directory, no hidden CI or fixture files.
  • Grepped the tree for Copyright, (C), ©, SPDX-License-Identifier, 'Licensed under', 'Permission is hereby granted', GNU/Apache/MPL, 'All rights reserved', 'public domain': the only notices are LICENSE line 3 Copyright (c) 2020 Power DevOps and doc.go line 4 Copyright 2020 Power-Devops.com. All rights reserved.
  • Prescan item doc.go:4 (Power-Devops.com): it is the same holder as the 2020 Power DevOps of LICENSE and of the Files: * stanza, i.e. the company whose domain the name comes from, not a second holder; no additional stanza is required and the matching is accurate.
  • The standalone License: Expat text matches LICENSE; Expat is the correct DEP-5 short name for this MIT text and the text is reproduced, so nothing needs to point at /usr/share/common-licenses.
  • All Go files are build-tagged: the implementation files and doc_test.go //go:build aix, doc.go //go:build !aix, types_*.go untagged. The patch adds the same aix constraint to c_helpers.c/.h and carries Description, Author, Forwarded and Last-Update.
  • debhelper/dh-golang behaviour checked in /usr/share/perl5/Debian/Debhelper: Buildsystem::golang's configure copies .go/.c/.h/go.mod/go.sum into $builddir/src, install copies that tree to /usr/share/gocode/src, so the empty override_dh_auto_build still yields a complete source package.
  • The empty build and test overrides are justified: doc.go's stubs define every library function used by the examples, but examples/sysconfig.go calls unix.Getsystemcfg and uses the SC_* constants that only the aix-tagged sysconf.go defines, so go install/go test on the default target $module/... cannot succeed off AIX.
  • Dependencies confirmed with apt-cache: golang-golang-x-sys-dev exists (0.49.0+dfsg-2, Section golang, Multi-Arch: foreign), matching the Depends/Build-Depends and the architecture modelling of this package; dh-sequence-golang is provided by dh-golang 1.67; dpkg-build-api (= 1) is provided by dpkg-dev 1.23.11, as dpkg-build-api(7) specifies.
  • Trailing commas in the Uploaders and Build-Depends fields are harmless: Dpkg::Deps splits on commas and Perl's split drops the empty tail, and the signed .dsc shows both fields parsed without them.
  • Standards-Version 4.7.4 is the same first two components as the reviewing Policy (4.7.4.1), hence not an issue; debhelper compat 13 with an explicit --buildsystem=golang is a supported combination.
  • debian/gbp.conf is consistent: gbp-buildpackage reads dist as its pbuilder dist and treats the value DEP14 as 'derive the suite from the DEP-14 branch name', so it is not a distribution name.
  • Changelog: version 0.0~git.-1, unstable, urgency medium, single initial-release entry with an ITP closure and a date that is indeed a Tuesday.
  • uscan found the packaged version as the newest upstream release (upstream 0.0~git20260916.22a1a46, packaged 0.0~git20260916.22a1a46).
Not confirmed ◂
  • Could not run go, dh or dpkg inside the package (read-only review, no build permitted), so that the -dev package's exact file list is what I derived from golang.pm, and that the stub package compiles on non-AIX, are reasoned from the sources rather than observed.
  • The existence of the salsa.debian.org Vcs-Git/Vcs-Browser repository could not be checked from here.
Proposed changes ◂

None.
