node-normalize-diacritics 5.0.1-1

Package Information

Descriptionaccent and diacritic normalization for strings

This library replaces accented characters with their unaccented equivalents and maps characters such as ligatures to corresponding letter sequences. It provides synchronous and asynchronous functions for normalizing strings.

DFSG Assistant LLM REVIEW 0 blocker, 0 important, 0 minor

This is an LLM based review using a Debian Inference based workflow. It was not written by a member of the DFSG team and has not been checked by one. It is not a decision on the package: it may be wrong, and it may have missed things.

DFSG NEW review for node-normalize-diacritics version 5.0.1-1

Summary

  • Licensing is DFSG-compliant and debian/copyright is accurate: Yes
  • Packaging is of good quality: Yes
  • Issues: 0 blocker, 0 important, 0 minor
  • debian/watch: version 5
  • debian/copyright: machine-readable
  • Scan before the review: nothing found

Licensing

The entire source tree is the work of a single author, Rong Sen Ng, licensed under the MIT/Expat licence, matching the LICENSE file ('The MIT License (MIT)', Copyright © 2017 Rong Sen Ng). debian/copyright is in DEP-5 format, names the single upstream holder correctly, uses the correct Expat short name, and reproduces the full licence text. No third-party or vendored code, no non-free terms, and no binary/built artifacts are present. The diacritics data table in src/diacritics.ts is factual Unicode code-point data (its provenance is acknowledged in a comment), not copyrightable expression.

Packaging

Standard, modern pkg-js-tools packaging: debhelper compat 14 with dh $@, dh-nodejs as build system (with a debian/nodejs/build file containing tsc), the nodejs-no-lerna and single-binary sequences for a single Architecture:all package, and node-typescript + nodejs (>= 18) in Build-Depends. The test suite was reworked in the Debian delta to drop the unpackaged vitest/@reallyland/tools dev-dependencies in favour of node --test, and is wired to autopkgtest via autopkgtest-pkg-nodejs. Changelog, Vcs-*, Standards-Version 4.7.4 and upstream/metadata are all correct. No maintainer scripts are needed.

Issues

None.

Verified

  • Read debian/copyright, control, rules, changelog, clean, source/format, patches/series, patches/dgit-changes, upstream/metadata, nodejs/build, tests/pkg-js/test and tests/pkg-js/files in full.
  • Enumerated the whole source tree (30 files) with glob (gitignore:false, hidden:true); no dist/, no minified JS, no .jar/.class/.so/.pyc/firmware/PDF artifacts, no vendored node_modules, no image/font/binary data files.
  • Read LICENSE (MIT), README.md, CHANGELOG.md, code-of-conduct.md, package.json, tsconfig.json, tsconfig.test.json, vite.config.ts and all src/.ts and src/tests/.ts and src/benchmarks/*.ts files; every file is authored by Rong Sen Ng under Expat, consistent with Files: *.
  • The pre-scan (dfsg-author-check) found no copyright holder missing from debian/copyright, so there were no flagged files to account for individually.
  • Grep for Copyright/©/(C)/SPDX/License/All rights reserved across the tree found notices only in LICENSE, README.md and the two changelogs, all naming Rong Sen Ng / MIT.
  • Confirmed via apt-cache that dh-nodejs provides dh-sequence-nodejs-no-lerna, node-typescript and node-tslib exist, and that @types/node (node-types-node) is provided by the nodejs package itself, so the test's --typeRoots /usr/share/nodejs/@types resolves.
  • Confirmed the single-binary and nodejs_no_lerna sequences behave as expected by reading /usr/share/perl5/Debian/Debhelper/Sequence/{single_binary,nodejs,nodejs_no_lerna}.pm and /usr/share/perl5/Debian/Debhelper/Buildsystem/nodejs.pm: debian/nodejs/build containing tsc is executed for the build step, and the nodejs build system installs dist/* per the package.json files field.
  • The package.json tslib dependency is vestigial: tsconfig.json does not set importHelpers and the compiled output (target ES2022) does not import tslib, so no runtime node-tslib dependency is required.
  • uscan found the packaged version as the newest upstream release (upstream 5.0.1, packaged 5.0.1).
