DFSG Assistant LLM REVIEW 0 blocker, 0 important, 0 minor

This is an LLM based review using a Debian Inference based workflow. It was not written by a member of the DFSG team and has not been checked by one. It is not a decision on the package: it may be wrong, and it may have missed things.

DFSG NEW review for python-httpx-ws version 0.9.0-1

Summary

  • Licensing is DFSG-compliant and debian/copyright is accurate: Yes
  • Packaging is of good quality: Yes
  • Issues: 0 blocker, 0 important, 0 minor
  • debian/watch: version 5
  • debian/copyright: machine-readable
  • Scan before the review: nothing found

Licensing

The whole tree is MIT-licensed under a single holder, François Voron, and debian/copyright is DEP-5, matches the shipped LICENSE and pyproject metadata, reproduces the MIT text in full (MIT is not in /usr/share/common-licenses), and gives debian/* its own stanza for Edward Betts. The prescan found no other holder and no non-free wording, and there are no vendored third-party copies or separate LICENSE/NOTICE/AUTHORS files in the tree.

Packaging

A small, conventional dh-pybuild package: debhelper compat 14, pybuild-plugin-pyproject with hatchling, dependency substvars left to debhelper at compat 14, testsuite autopkgtest-pkg-pybuild, Standards-Version 4.7.4 against Policy 4.7.4.1, and correct Vcs-*/Homepage/upstream metadata. All build and runtime dependency names exist in the archive, and the test dependencies are covered.

Issues

None.

Verified ◂
  • Read all of debian/ in full: changelog, control, copyright, rules, python3-httpx-ws.docs, salsa-ci.yml, source/format, upstream/metadata. No debian/patches, maintainer scripts or debian/tests present.
  • Upstream tree is 32 files: httpx_ws/*.py plus py.typed, tests/, docs/ (mkdocs sources), README.md, LICENSE, pyproject.toml, uv.lock, justfile, mkdocs.yml, AGENTS.md, .github/, .vscode/, .zed/, .gitignore, .editorconfig, .all-contributorsrc.
  • Licensing: only LICENSE (MIT, Copyright (c) 2021 François Voron) and pyproject's License :: OSI Approved :: MIT License classifier/README statement exist; grep for Copyright/(C)/©/SPDX/Licensed under/GNU/Apache/MPL/public domain/All rights reserved found no other terms or holders. debian/copyright's Files: * correctly covers the whole tree and debian/* overrides for packaging.
  • Prescan: it lists no files; its author check scanned 32 files, found two declared holders and reported every holder found is named in debian/copyright, so there is nothing further to account for.
  • No built artifacts, minified code, archives, PDFs, fonts or images in the tree. The mkdocs favicon is an inline data:image/svg+xml URI in mkdocs.yml, not a shipped image file. uv.lock is upstream's text lockfile, not generated code needing a generator input.
  • No vendored third-party code: imports in httpx_ws/ and tests/ are all from anyio, httpcore, httpx, wsproto, pytest, starlette, uvicorn, websockets; no copy carries its own headers.
  • Dependencies checked with apt-cache: python3-httpx 0.28.1, python3-anyio 4.15.1, python3-wsproto 1.3.2, python3-uvicorn 0.53.0 (Depends: python3-wsproto, python3-uvloop), python3-starlette 1.9.0, python3-hatch-regex-commit 0.0.4, pybuild-plugin-pyproject 7.20261030 (Depends: dh-python, python3-build, python3-installer) all exist; runtime Requires-Dist anyio/httpx/httpcore/wsproto are all packaged and satisfy pyproject's >= constraints.
  • Tests need pytest, pytest-cov (only to accept --no-cov in rules), starlette, uvicorn, websockets, httpx and wsproto; all are in Build-Depends-Indep or pulled by python3-uvicorn's hard dependency on python3-wsproto, so both build-time and autopkgtest runs find them.
  • Tests use only local unix sockets and httpx.MockTransport; no network or external service is needed.
  • debian/copyright is machine-readable DEP-5 with the required Format line, no Files-Excluded, and the orig tarball is pristine upstream (no repacking needs declaring).
  • Standards-Version 4.7.4 matches Policy 4.7.4.1 on the reviewing system; debhelper compat 14 is current; dh-sequence-single-binary is explicitly listed, which is correct preparation for compat 15 and harmless at 14; Testsuite: autopkgtest-pkg-pybuild is valid without debian/tests because autodep8 generates the test.
  • uscan found the packaged version as the newest upstream release (upstream 0.9.0, packaged 0.9.0).
Not confirmed ◂
  • I did not build the package or run its test suite (not possible in this review); the packaging review assumes, per the instructions, that the maintainer's clean build and tests pass.
Proposed changes ◂

None.
