| Description | Python library for MHC protein sequence curation The major histocompatibility complex (MHC) encodes cell-surface proteins that present peptide antigens to T cells. In humans these proteins are called human leukocyte antigens (HLA). Class I proteins are expressed on nearly all nucleated cells and primarily present intracellular peptides; class II proteins are mainly expressed by professional antigen-presenting cells and primarily present peptides derived from extracellular proteins. mhcseqs downloads and curates MHC protein sequences from IMGT/HLA and IPD-MHC, supplements them with selected UniProt and GenBank records, and decomposes class I and class II proteins into their binding-groove and supporting domains. It can handle full-length proteins, signal-peptide-stripped deposits, and common sequence fragments. This package provides the Python 3 library and bundled reference data. |
