rust-sping 1.8.0-1
Package Information
| Description | terminal-native real-time connectivity monitor sping probes one or more hosts and keeps a live view of each connection: latency, jitter, loss, a quality grade with its trend, and outage timing. It reads the network context of each target (interface, source address, gateway). When it watches a single target, it also pings the local gateway and a reference address, 1.1.1.1 by default (--wan-probe), every 3 seconds, so that an outage is attributed to where it most likely lies: the target, the upstream network or the local network. It has a multi-target table, a batch mode, ping-compatible classic output and exit codes, NDJSON output and TCP connect probes (--tcp PORT), and uses unprivileged ICMP sockets. "sping --ip" shows the host's addresses, sources and gateway without sending anything; only "sping --ip --external" contacts a STUN server. |

DFSG Assistant LLM REVIEW 0 blocker, 0 important, 0 minor
This is an LLM based review using a Debian Inference based workflow. It was not written by a member of the DFSG team and has not been checked by one. It is not a decision on the package: it may be wrong, and it may have missed things.

Report
DFSG NEW review for rust-sping version 1.8.0-1
Summary
- Licensing is DFSG-compliant and
debian/copyrightis accurate: Yes - Packaging is of good quality: Yes
- Issues: 0 blocker, 0 important, 0 minor
- debian/watch: version 5
- debian/copyright: machine-readable
- Scan before the review: nothing found
Licensing
The entire source is MIT-licensed, written by a single author (Antonio Cotos, 2025-2026). debian/copyright is machine-readable (correct Format: URL) and its Files: * MIT stanza, debian/* stanza, holder name and MIT text all match the evidence in LICENSE, Cargo.toml and the source tree. No non-free terms, no missing licence, no vendored or prebuilt files were found.
Packaging
A clean debcargo-generated package at debhelper compat 13 using dh-sequence-cargo. Build-Depends-Arch names every librust-* dependency (and the tokio test-util dev-dependency in Build-Depends, needed because rules runs the test suite). rules correctly overrides dh_auto_test to run test --all-targets and dh_auto_install to ship the generated man page and completions. Changelog, Vcs-*, Standards-Version 4.7.4 (current against Policy 4.7.4.1) and source format are all correct.
Issues
None.
Verified
- Prescan author check: every copyright holder found is named in debian/copyright (the only holder is Antonio Cotos).
- LICENSE is a plain MIT text with 'Copyright (c) 2025-2026 Antonio Cotos acf981@protonmail.com'; matches the
Files: *stanza and the License: MIT text in debian/copyright. - The tree is 88 upstream files: Rust sources under src/ and tests/, build.rs, Cargo.toml, docs, packaging/ (Arch/Fedora/Homebrew/Scoop/Winget), scripts/ and CI workflows. Grep found licence/copyright wording only in Cargo.toml, LICENSE and debian/*; the
(C)hits in src/ are#[repr(C)]and variable names, not notices. No prebuilt binaries, no vendored crates, no .pc content beyond quilt bookkeeping. - Cargo.toml rust-version '1.88' matches Build-Depends rustc:native (>= 1.88); every Cargo dependency (anyhow, clap, clap_complete, clap_mangen, crossterm, libc, serde, serde_json, socket2, thiserror, tokio incl. test-util) has a matching librust-* Build-Depends entry.
- debian/copyright already begins with
Format: https://www.debian.org/doc/packaging-manuals/copyright-format/1.0/, so no proposed_copyright is needed. - uscan found the packaged version as the newest upstream release (upstream
1.8.0, packaged1.8.0).
Not confirmed
None.
Proposed changes
None.
